Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026

1. Introduction

DMX Node (“the Application”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a mobile application for Android and iOS that allows users to control DMX lighting fixtures through Art-Net over Wi-Fi using compatible hardware. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By using DMX Node, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Application.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account or sign in, we collect the following information:

  • Your name (as provided by you or your sign-in provider)
  • Your email address
  • Your profile photo URL (when signing in with Google or Apple and a photo is available)
  • A unique user identifier assigned by Firebase Authentication
  • Account creation timestamp and last-opened timestamp

We also sync your application data to secure cloud storage so you can access it across devices. This data includes:

  • Fixture definitions and fixture groups you configure
  • Scenes and scene banks you create
  • Chases and FX layers you program
  • Submaster configurations
  • Art-Net node connection settings (IP addresses, port numbers, universes)
  • Device records associated with your account

This data is stored under your unique user ID and is not accessible to other users.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • DMX channel values, lighting output data, or any data sent to your hardware
  • Location data
  • Contacts or address book information
  • Microphone or camera access
  • Passwords — authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication and your chosen sign-in provider

4. Wi-Fi and Network Information

DMX Node requires internet access to authenticate your account, sync your data to the cloud, and process in-app purchases. It also communicates with Art-Net hardware on your local network over UDP.

We do not collect or transmit your Wi-Fi network name, password, or local IP address to our servers. Art-Net node IP addresses you configure are stored as part of your application data and synced to your account.

5. Local Application Data

DMX Node stores your application data locally on your device using a SQLite database. This local database is the primary source of truth for the application and is synchronized with cloud storage when you are signed in and connected to the internet. Local data remains on your device and is subject to your device's own security and backup settings.

6. Backup and Exported Data

DMX Node supports a local JSON export feature that allows you to save a copy of your application data as a file. This export is created on your device and is not automatically uploaded to any server. When you export data, you are responsible for the storage and security of that file.

This export feature is not a cloud backup. Data exported in this way is not transmitted to us or to any third party by the Application.

7. Third-Party Hardware

DMX Node communicates with third-party Art-Net nodes and DMX fixtures. We do not control and are not responsible for any data practices of those hardware manufacturers. Art-Net packets sent from your device to hardware nodes contain DMX channel values only and are not collected or logged by us.

8. Analytics

DMX Node uses Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect anonymous usage data in release builds. Analytics collection is disabled in debug builds and is enabled only in production releases. Firebase Analytics may collect data such as app interactions, device type, operating system version, and general usage patterns.

Firebase Analytics data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We use this data to understand how the Application is used and to improve it.

9. Advertising

DMX Node does not display advertisements and does not include advertising SDKs or share your data with advertising networks.

10. Purchases and Subscriptions

DMX Node offers in-app purchases and subscription options. Purchase processing is managed by RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management platform. RevenueCat processes transaction data, subscription status, and related identifiers on our behalf. Financial details such as payment card numbers are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play and are never transmitted to us or to RevenueCat.

RevenueCat processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at revenuecat.com.

11. Crash Reporting

DMX Node uses Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google) to collect crash reports in release builds. Crash reporting is disabled in debug builds. If the Application crashes, Crashlytics may collect information about the crash, device type, operating system version, and the state of the Application at the time of the crash.

Crash reports do not include your account information or your lighting configuration data. This data is used solely to identify and fix software bugs.

12. Data Retention

Your account and application data are retained in cloud storage for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account through the Application, your account record and all associated cloud data are deleted. Analytics and crash reporting data are retained according to Google's Firebase retention policies.

13. Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the Application. Deleting your account removes your profile and all synced application data from our cloud storage. Local data on your device is not automatically removed when you delete your account; you can uninstall the Application to remove local data.

To request data deletion by email, contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL].

14. Security

We use Firebase Authentication and Firebase Firestore, both provided by Google, to manage account access and data storage. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS). Access to your cloud data is restricted to your authenticated account. No security system is completely infallible; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your device secure.

15. Children

DMX Node is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

16. International Users

DMX Node is operated from [COUNTRY / JURISDICTION]. If you are accessing the Application from outside that jurisdiction, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Application, you consent to this transfer.

Firebase and RevenueCat are US-based services. Google's data processing practices, including cross-border transfers, are governed by Google's Privacy Policy and applicable data transfer mechanisms.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
