Connection & Settings
Configure your Art-Net node in Settings, then DMX Node sends all real-time DMX data as Art-Net packets over your local Wi-Fi network.
Overview
DMX Node connects to Art-Net nodes over Wi-Fi. Setup is done entirely in the app's Settings screen — no separate provisioning step required.
Settings — node configuration
Add your Art-Net node in Settings. Enter its name, target IP address, and output port universe addresses (N/S/U).
Art-Net / UDP — DMX control
All real-time DMX data travels as Art-Net packets over Wi-Fi to the configured IP. No further setup needed during normal operation.
Settings Configuration
Open Settings in the app to add and configure Art-Net nodes. Each node entry includes:
Node Name
A label for the node, used to identify it in the app.
Target IP
The IP address of the Art-Net node on your local network. Art-Net packets are sent to this address on UDP port 6454.
Port / N / S / U
Each output port is assigned a Net (N), Subnet (S), and Universe (U) address. The Art-Net node's DMX output must be configured to match.
After saving, DMX Node immediately begins sending Art-Net to the configured address. No restart or re-connection required.
Art-Net Operation
DMX Node sends Art-Net packets over UDP to the node's IP address. This is the only connection mode during normal operation.
- Art-Net uses UDP port 6454.
- Packets are sent when channel values change, plus a periodic resend to keep fixtures responsive.
- The phone and node must be on the same local network (subnet) for UDP unicast to reach the node.
- Multiple nodes are supported — each with its own IP and port configuration.
IP Configuration
Enter the Art-Net node's IP address in Settings. The app sends all Art-Net packets to that address.
If your node uses DHCP (dynamic IP), the IP may change between power cycles. For stable operation, configure a static IP on your router (DHCP reservation) or on the node itself.
Universe Addressing
Art-Net uses a three-part universe address: Net (N), Subnet (S), and Universe (U). Each output port configured in Settings carries its own N/S/U values. The Art-Net node's physical DMX output must be set to receive the matching universe address.
Most Art-Net nodes default to N=0, S=0, U=0. If DMX output is not working, verify the node's universe address matches what is configured in Settings.
