Scenes

A Scene stores a snapshot of the DMX universe. Recall it at any time to instantly reproduce that lighting state, or fade into it smoothly during a show.

What Is a Scene?

A scene is a saved record of all 512 DMX channel values at the moment of capture. When you recall a scene, the app restores those values to the DMX output — every channel that was part of the scene goes to its saved value.

Scenes are the primary tool for organizing lighting cues in a show. Build your looks in the Mixer, save them as scenes, then call them in order during the performance.

Saving and Recalling

To save a scene: set the desired channel values in the Mixer, navigate to the Scenes tab, and tap Save. The current universe state is captured as a new scene.

To recall a scene: tap the scene in the list. The app immediately applies the scene's channel values to the output. If a fade is configured, the transition happens over the defined duration.

Scene Banks

Scenes are organized into banks. A bank is a labeled group of scenes. You might use one bank per act, one per set, or one per venue — whatever makes sense for your workflow.

Switching banks does not immediately change the DMX output — it just changes which set of scenes is displayed for selection.

Fade Transitions

Each scene can be configured with fade times:

Fade-inHow long the transition takes when recalling this scene
Fade-outHow long the current scene takes to fade when a new scene is recalled
CrossfadeSimultaneous fade out of current state and fade into new scene

Fade times are configured per scene. Setting a fade time of 0 produces an instant cut.

Scene Ordering

Scenes within a bank can be reordered. Drag scenes to arrange them in the order you plan to call them during the show. This makes sequential playback faster and more reliable.

Scene ordering also affects how Chases sequence through scenes. See for details.Chases for details.

Practical Example

A simple show with four scenes in Bank A:

SceneDescriptionFade-in
House LightsAll channels at low warm level for audience entry3s
Warm StageFront wash warm white, spots at 60%2s
Full ColorAll fixtures at full intensity with color wash1s
BlackoutAll channels at 00s
