Groups

A Group is a named collection of DMX channels. Once defined, a group can be referenced by Submasters and FX layers, allowing you to control multiple channels together by name rather than channel number.

What Is a Group?

A Group is simply a labeled list of channel numbers. The name identifies what those channels represent — for example, "Front Wash Dimmers" or "Moving Head PAN".

Groups do not output DMX values on their own. They are references used by other tools to know which channels to target.

Creating a Group

  1. 1.Navigate to the Groups tab.
  2. 2.Tap Add Group.
  3. 3.Enter a name for the group.
  4. 4.Add the channel numbers that belong to this group.
  5. 5.Save the group.

Where Groups Are Used

Submasters

Set the scope of a Submaster to a Group. The submaster affects only the channels in that group.

FX layers

Target an FX layer at a Group. The effect runs on the channels in that group, with spread applied across them.

Examples

Front Wash Dimmers

Channels 1, 8, 15, 22 — the DIMMER channels of four front PAR LEDs. A Submaster targeting this group controls all four front wash intensities from one fader.

Moving Head PAN

Channels 2, 18, 34, 50 — the PAN channels of four moving heads. An FX MOVEMENT layer targeting this group drives all four heads through the same pan waveform simultaneously.

All RGB RED

Channels 4, 11, 18, 25 — the RED channels across a row of wash fixtures. A COLOR_CYCLE FX targeting this group with spread creates a hue wave across the row.
